Misted uPVC window pane repair

Cheltenham Glass and Glazing carried out a small, low-cost repair at a property in the Charlton Kings area of Cheltenham recently.

Ms R and her friend were tenants at the Gloucestershire property and needed to make good the window before handing over the keys at the end of their tenancy.

Our fitters removed the misted panel from its frame and carefully drilled tiny holes in to the spacer bar before injecting a drying agent to expel the moisture, before resealing it.

This process can be risky as there is a chance that the glass will not withstand the procedure. However, in this case the window could be repaired and it was reinstalled in to its frame and securely fixed in.

In addition to the misted window repair Adam also replaced the hinge and handle on the window unit which had seized and become too stiff to operate safely. This simple procedure meant that the window could be fixed and used safely at a far lower cost than if it had been replaced.

Depending on a customer’s situation it may not be appropriate to replace a double-glazing unit that is misted but not actually broken.
